HomeStorage and transport

Storage and transport

During storage and transport of pipes from plastics, it is always necessary to pay attention to the existing conditions, so that products are not subject to damaging external influences and internal stresses.

Pipes and fittings should not have contact with any other material, which could damage plastics (e.g. on the ground, at storage and transport or by improper tools and transshipment methods). Pipes should be stored in their original packing (in piles) on a flat surface, free from stones and sharp objects. Piles can be made ten layers high, one atop the other but not higher than 1.5m. For storage of unpacked pipes, wooden lateral supports should be used, at the distance of min. every 1.5m.

Pipes should be protected against direct action of solar rays and temperatures exceeding 400 C. Pipes must not be covered, because this makes impossible ventilation.
Pipes with different diameters should be stored separately, and if it is not possible, pipes with greater diameters and thicker walls should be placed at the bottom. Pipes’ flanges should be protruding so that ends of pipes in the upper layer do not rest on flanges of the underlying layer. Layers of pipes should be placed alternately. It is not allowed to drop elements or to drag pipes on the ground.

It is necessary to maintain caution in works at low temperatures, which cause increase of embrittlement of PVC pipes and PP fittings, and make them more prone to damages.
Fittings and other materials (e.g. seals, cleaning agents) should be stored in an orderly manner in original packing marked according to the above-mentioned principles and safety measures.

Storage height, for fittings in bulk or in elastic packing, should not exceed 1.5 m. Pipes in packages have to be transported on lorries with appropriate length. Unloading has to be done with a forklift truck with flat fork or with a hoisting crane with a spreader beam, which does not allow slings to tighten around packages (wire rope or chain slings should not be used).

Transport in bulk requires pipes to touch the floor on their entire length, and the vehicle must have lateral supports spaced max. at every 2m.
Pipes' flanges cannot be exposed to loads. Pipes cannot exceed the vehicle’s length by more than 1m.

Fittings in packing resistant to atmospheric precipitations can be transported by any transport means but in packing not resistant – with covered transport means only. Packing pieces should be spaced over the whole vehicle’s area, protected against shifting or damages.
